Debbie Hobbs, Head of Sustainability, LGIM Real Assets
Debbie joined in July 2012 as Sustainability Manager, having previously headed up the, worldwide, sustainability and climate change practise of ENVIRON. Prior to this Debbie was a regional director at AECOM within the Sustainable Development Group and the Group Environmental Manager at MEPC.
Debbie is a chartered engineer (MCIBSE) with 25 years experience in the sustainability and carbon management sector. She is also a board member of the Better Buildings Partnership (BBP) and also sits on the following committees: BPF’s sustainably committee, BCO sustainability committee, CIBSE Energy Performance and INREV sustainability committee, having recently managed a task group to re-wrte the INREV sustainability reporting guidelines.
Being a chartered engineer, she has spent the last 30 years working in sustainability and energy management, with a passion for getting buildings to perform efficiently and effectively. 1o years ago she managed two £5M Carbon Trust programmes looking at new build design with onsite renewable technologies and the refurbishment of Low Carbon Buildings, as the industry started identifying the ‘performance gap’ . Recently she developed voluntary Display Environmental Certificates with the National Energy Foundation, to produce operational ratings that can split landlord and tenant data. Enabling landlords to ‘label’ the energy, water and waste performance of their buildings for the first time.
She is also an EPC, DEC and ACI assessor and was whilst in consultancy worked with many corporate companies on carbon management programmes including Tesco, John Lewis, M&S, Sainsbury, Boots, Debenhams, IKEA, Capco and the Bank of England.
