Susan Hone-Brookes

Environment Leader, Laing O'Rouke




Susan is the Environmental Leader working within the Engineering Excellence group at Laing O’Rourke. This hand picked group of experts chosen from both the global business and academia to drive innovative sustainable engineering strategies to improve the way Laing O'Rouke do business on a global scale. 

Susan is a chartered engineer and a fellow member of the institution and has worked for more than 30 years within the built environment. From hands on design and installation project roles, through to project management of complex high value building services projects. Recent project involvement includes the Francis Crick science facility and Alder Hey Children’s hospital.  Her area of particular interest is establishing robust business approaches to the management of whole life carbon emissions together with post occupancy energy consumption patterns.

She has a Masters degree in Sustainability and Building Energy Design from De Montfort University, and a BEng with honours degree in Building Services from Hertfordshire University. She is also a qualified BREEAM and ESOS audit assessor, a registered Accredited Professional (AP) and a Low Carbon Consultant.
