A chance to present at the 2017 ASHRAE meeting in Las Vegas

CIBSE President John Field is seeking CIBSE members to potentially join him to present at the ASHRAE Las Vegas meeting from 28 January  - 1 February 2017,  as part of the CIBSE ASHRAE liaison sponsored session.

It is a speculative bid so it will not be confirmed finally until September (ie it will be subject to acceptance by the ASHRAE conference committee).

The seminar will be based around John Field’s vision and associated theme of ‘Improving Performance’ (of the built environment). He is keen that the session should encompass exemplar methods, examples of design for performance and modelling for performance (as well as the appropriate use of metrics to determine actual performance).
You are invited to submit a brief proposal (5-10 bulleted points) for a presentation that would address an aspect of that, reasonably broad, subject. This would be an 18 minute Powerpoint slide presentation that does not require a written paper. The presentation must to be based on up-to-date technology/techniques and be founded on good evidence (and not conjecture). If chosen you would join John Field as a presenter at the Las Vegas meeting. Please note that speakers pay a reduced meeting registration rate but receive no deferment of expenses from CIBSE or ASHRAE (ie there are no expenses paid by CIBSE or ASHRAE).
Please let Tim Dwyer, know by Monday 30 May 2016 if you would like to be considered with an outline of the presentation (5-10 bulleted points) - together with your abbreviated CV.
If you were selected to be part of the bid you would subsequently need to produce by the 1st July.

  • A final agreed title for the presentation
  • Abstract for the presentation (Approx 100-200 words)
  • 4 SIMPLE learning objectives for the presentation
  • 4 SIMPLE SHORT Questions PLUS Answers that can be answered directly from your presentation (You will receive more guidance on this if needed)

and then the Powerpoint presentation would need to be completed (to meet ASHRAE’s presentation requirements) by mid December 2016.
