CDM Regulations - Early Implementation Experiences
Gillian Birkby updated her two earlier HCNW seminars in this Joint Event with IET Buckinghamshire. We welcomed a broad mix of professionals to this new HCNW venue, courtesy of Zumtobel Lighting.
One HCNW Member was going to a meeting as Principal Designer in the morning and this area of the Regulations attracted considerable attention in the seminar and networking. Gillian particularly highlighted the default assignment of Principal Designer in the Regulations when working for domestic clients and the consensus was that designers would simply have to price for it, on the assumption that they might find themselves holding the role. The Principal Designerer's duty to 'ensure' that all designers carried out their Health & Safety duties has been clarified a little.
Blending recent case history with observation on the new Regulations, Gillian guided us through and rounded off with BIM and CDM. In networking afterwards, our attendees commented on the adoption of BIM and where the returns could be found.
