The Young Engineer Awards are free to enter

Closing date for entries: Tuesday 1st August 2017

Awards Presentation: Thursday 12th October 2017 at IMechE, London

 

Entries for the Graduate of the Year and Employer of the Year are now open.

Entries should be submitted through the online entry system, you will need to download the relevant form below and entries should also include a supporting written statement. All supporting information should be culminated into one PDF document for upload. For inspiration and guidance on how to put together your entry you can view past winners' entry forms.

Why enter?

CIBSE ASHRAE Graduate of Year Award

The CIBSE ASHRAE Graduate of the Year Award is one of the industry’s most sought after accolades. Candidates may be put forward by their college, university or employer and must have graduated in a building services related discipline within the last two years.

All shortlisted finalists are invited to give a short five minute presentation to the judging panel and an audience at the IMechE on 12 October 2017. Graduates are judged on their presentation and communication skills. The presentation topic will be revealed to finalists closer to the date - previous presentation topics have included:

2016: Computers and digital technologies are transforming the way engineers work. What impact do you think this is having on innovation; professionalism; and traditional engineering skills?
2015: How does collaboration and teamwork enahance the way we, as engineers, work?
2014: How is technology transforming the way we, as engineers, work?

• First Prize: A trip to next year’s ASHRAE Conference in Chicago

• Runner-up Prize: The Rumford Club will present bursaries of £600 and £300 to the second and third place. The Manly Trust present £100 to all the other finalists.

• Winners are featured in a write up in the CIBSE Journal

• Winners are featured in the CIBSE Young Engineers Awards Winners press release

• Winners are sent photographs from the winners presentation

CIBSE Employer of the Year Award

The CIBSE Employer of the Year Award is open to organisations that pro-actively champion young people in the building services sector, through commitment to young people in the workplace or supporting these employees through education. If that sounds like your organisation then we want to hear your story. This is your chance to share your dedication with the rest of the industry, to highlight the long-term benefits of being part of your organisation and to cement your reputation as a champion of young engineers.

All companies, whether large or small, are encouraged to enter, as four separate awards are presented:

Small CIBSE Employer of the Year: 1-50 employees
Medium CIBSE Employer of the Year: 51-300 employees
Large CIBSE Employer of the Year: 301+ employees

All category winners are all in with a chance to win the coveted prize of CIBSE Employer of the Year 2017.

• Finalists are invited to attend the Young Engineers Awards 2017 ceremony

• The overall winner receives the prestigious Employer of the Year engraved trophy

• Category winners receive a certificate in recognition of their work

• All winners have use of the CIBSE Employer of the Year winners logo

• All winners feature in a write up in the CIBSE Journal

• All winners are featured in the CIBSE Young Engineers Awards Winners press release

• All winners are sent photographs from the winners presentation
