ImechE President-Elect - Carolyn Griffiths
Since Carolyn joined the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, she has always supported its work, looking for practical ways of furthering its effectiveness in supporting the engineers and the broader engineering community that it serves. She has been a member of Council, the chairman of the Railway Division and a member of three recent Institution task forces. A member of the Railway Division Board, Carolyn is also deputy chairman of the Technical Strategy Board.
Carolyn is currently leading the Institution’s initiative of providing railway engineering training to members. While this training is delivered by a selected third party it is defined and continuously reviewed by senior engineers from the industry. This is providing a pilot framework for the Institution to offer other engineering training, the technical quality of which is managed by members who are senior specialists and experienced engineers from the relevant industry sector.
