For M&E plant room like UPS, transformer, chiller 's room, some code are requiring dedicated ventilation for these rooms - dedicated mechanical ventilation. Is it really reasonable with current technology like VRLA battery,... which reduce a lot of risk. Please let me know your opinion ? Thanks

Plantroom vent is primarily for, 1. Essential function of the plantroom e.g Combustion air supply for boilers, gas scavenging in UPS/chillers and so on; 2. Fresh air for maintenance operatives; 3. Combined heat extraction [cooling], smoke exhaust vent and or item 1-2 from above. It is not advisable to takeout plant vent completely. Have you ever considered battery explosion/gassing in an UPS room where 20tonnes batteries are housed in a room? On smaller scale this may not be an issue but on macro scle it does make a lot difference. Standards are written to cover worst case scenarios.
