Benefits of CHP in buildings:

  • Lower energy costs - In cost effective schemes, the electricity cost savings substantially outweigh any increase in fossil fuel costs.
  • Increased security of supply - Where the CHP unit is set up to operate in island mode when the mains supply fails, CHP provides a major improvement to the security of electricity supply.
  • Environmental benefits - The reduced CO2 emissions from CHP help in the fight against global warming.
