Discussion Forums

All messages posted in the discussion forums should be regarded as personal opinions and do not necessarily reflect the views of CIBSE nor can CIBSE verify the accuracy of any information posted in the forums (though inaccurate information will be removed where possible). CIBSE is not responsible for the interpretation or application of the information contained within the discussion forums.

In consideration for your use of the discussion forums, you agree not to:

It is acceptable for course providers and product suppliers to give basic contact details in response to a request for information about specific courses and/ or products.

The discussion forums should not be used to make complaints against individuals and organisations. A dispute situation where you need information should be described in a subjective way and without reference to names. If an inappropriate message is posted, it will be deleted and the moderator or their agent will send you a private email to inform you that your message is inappropriate for the discussion forums and to ask you not to send such messages in future. If you send another such message, your email address will be removed from the subscribers' list. Appropriate messages posted on an inappropriate forum will be forwarded to the relevant discussion forum without the subscriber being notified.

The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers ('CIBSE') is committed to protecting your privacy, and takes its responsibilities regarding the security of members' and customers' information very seriously. CIBSE seeks to improve the performance of all concerned with building services in the built environment. To enable us to achieve this, we hold information about members and customers and the products and services in which they have expressed interest. CIBSE may sometimes use such information to obtain feedback on the Institution's activities to help us improve the services we provide.

The information we collect and how we use it You can access the CIBSE website ('the Website') without giving any personal information except for the Members Only area, the Briefings section and the Discussion Forum. We gather information in these areas to allow us to confirm your identity and protect your security.

Member Registration

Members will need to give their membership number and date of birth to access the Members Only area and the Discussion Forum and agree to the Website's Terms and Conditions and this Privacy Policy.

Non-Member Registration

Non-members will need to give their name, address, phone/email details to access the Discussion Forum and agree to the Website's Terms and Conditions and this Privacy Policy.

Information required for online sales

CIBSE requires certain information to be submitted when you wish to purchase anything online dependant on whether you are a member or non-member. This will include name, address, membership number (to enable you to benefit from member discounts), telephone number, and email address, as well as your credit or debit card number and expiry date.
