Some companies offer a CIBSE-approved training programme. Please click list of approved company schemes, for appropriate contact details or contact Sarah Walters on swalters@cibse.org.
Employees following an approved employer based training scheme towards CEng must be Graduate members of CIBSE,
Employees following an approved employer based training scheme towards IEng must be Graduate, Licentiate or Student members of CIBSE and have the following academic qualifications:
Employees following an approved employer based training scheme towards EngTech must have the appropriate qualification and be Student or Affiliate members of CIBSE.
An approved company T&D scheme would allow trainees to be registered with CIBSE without the need for employers to submit a new individual programme each time.
The Training & Development Manual (towards CEng, IEng or EngTech) contains guidance for employers on providing training schemes for their trainees and pro forma documentation for candidates to record their learning and experience. Please refer to Section A4 of the T&D Manual for guidance when putting together your submission.
If you would like your company Training and Development scheme to be considered for approval, you will need to complete and return an application form for an approved company Training & Development scheme for your trainees together with your scheme. Please also submit your contact details for your entry in the list of approved company schemes Please submit an electronic version of your application and scheme, cross-referencing the details of your programme to the T&D Competence Objectives outlined in the T&D Manual and detailed in membership fact sheets M21 (MCIBSE/CEng), A21 (ACIBSE/IEng) or L21 LCIBSE/EngTech) as appropriate. These competences are exactly the same as the criteria set by the Engineering Council in the UK-SPEC for Engineering Technician, Incorporated Engineer and Chartered Engineer which can be downloaded from the Engineering Council website http://www.engc.org.uk/
Your company T&D scheme should indicate evidence of competences rather than how the Competence Objectives are going to be achieved. At this stage, you need not be too specific as flexibility is often required to meet the needs of individual trainees.
The registration fee is £480 (£400 plus £80 VAT @ 20%) and this covers administration and approval period of your company scheme for a maximum of three years.
