Employer Training Schemes
Some companies offer a CIBSE-approved training programme. Please click list of approved company schemes, for appropriate contact details or contact Olwen Williams owilliams@cibse.org.
Employees following an approved employer based training scheme towards CEng must be Graduate members of CIBSE, and towards IEng must have a Foundation Degree, HNC or equivalent and be Student or Licentiate members of CIBSE. Employees following an approved employer based training scheme towards Licentiate/EngTech must have the appropriate qualification and be Student or Affiliate members of CIBSE.
Approval of T&D Schemes: Information for Companies
The Training & Development Manual (towards CEng, IEng or EngTech) contains guidance for employers on providing training schemes for their trainees and pro forma documentation for candidates to record their learning and experience.

Trainee Submissions
Trainees on approved employer-based training schemes are respectfully reminded to submit their objective achieved reports and covering overview on an annual basis (i.e. anniversary of training commencement date). (Pro forma documentation is included in the CIBSE Training & Development Manual.) Please ensure these are submitted at least one month before scheduled Training & Development Panel dates shown below.
Please submit an electronic version of your whole submission via email (or on CD). For ease of assessment, please submit as one electronic document, i.e. NOT separate folders or documents for each objective.

Training & Development Panel Meetings and Submission Deadlines
Proposed T&D Panel meeting dates for 2010 are 21 January, 13 May, 8 July and 7 October. Submissions should be received at least one month prior to each T&D Panel meeting. Late submissions will be carried forward to the next meeting.
Please submit an electronic version of all submissions, including T&D Plan Registration Forms.
Training & Development Forum - February 2010
The annual Training & Development Forum took place at CIBSE HQ on 25 February 2010. The Forum is open to all companies with training schemes leading to EngTech, IEng or CEng, whether they have, or are applying for, a CIBSE approved scheme, or have trainees following an individual employer-based scheme.
The Forum was attended by a number of delegates from well established building services consultancies and contracting companies involved in company training schemes. Presentations were given on different aspects of training and development, including mentoring and professional learning, together with information on routes to membership and registration.

Candidates based in Hong Kong
For the training of graduates in HK, there is a structured training (Scheme A training) administered by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. Companies accepted by HKIE will provide the placement for BS graduates for training within the companies for a period of 2 years. The training is accepted by both HKIE and CIBSE as satisfying the training requirements for corporate membership.
