DE5T: Asset Information Requirements Template

This free-to-all template is intended to supplement DE5: Asset Information Requirements.

This guidance note is written in reference to PAS 1192-3:2014 and BS ISO 55000:2014, as these documents provide the framework around which an AIR is structured.

It is not intended to be an exhaustive or definitive document and it will be necessary for users of the guidance given to exercise their own professional judgement when deciding whether to abide by or depart from it.

An Asset Information Requirements document may take any one of a number of forms, there is no prescribed right or wrong way of creating an AIR. The information that is required by an asset is that which is relevant to the stakeholders in the use of said asset.

One of the primary sources of information requirements will be from the organisations that own and use the asset. These may be different organisations and co-ordination between parties may be required. These individual corporate requirement sets are known as Organisational Information Requirements (OIRs) and will be dealt with in more detail in a separate guidance note.

The purpose of an AIR is to ensure that information relating to the running of an asset is generated, collated and delivered during life-cycle of the asset. It should also describe the methods by which information is transferred into the Asset Information Model (AIM).
Further to this, the AIR will be one of the primary sources for an Employer’s Information Requirements (EIR) document, details of which are covered in a separate guidance note.
