The importance of FM on building performance and closing the gap
James Campbell, CIBSE FM Group Member / Partner, Troup Bywaters + Anders
David Stevens, Vice Chair, CIBSE FM Group
The performance of a building has a direct impact on the users comfort, wellbeing, productivity and the environment. As FM's, we are handed the responsibility to ensure that a facility meets the requirements of all users whilst keeping operational costs, energy consumption and environmental impact to a minimum. But, sometimes, we face challenges on day one just to keep services and facilities operational. There are many causes of these issues but, how many could be mitigated by earlier engagement of FM's in projects and what is the true cost of not engaging with FM's. This presentation looks at real case studies of building performance and the cost of the performance gap.
