Leading the change in facilities management
Geoff Prudence, Chair, CIBSE FM Group
We continue to hear that Facilities Management is still not a mature industry and that FM needs to be more clearly defined. However, we also do acknowledge that the world is changing faster than probably any time previously. So there's fantastic opportunity for 'Facilities Management', but we have to take the lead. Geoff will discuss his views and experience in his highly engaging style, on leadership and successful change, together with the opportunities in the future for the sector, including customer focus, innovation technology, skills and collaboration. He will also share experiences of successful strategies and particularly building operational risk and the innovative 'Predictor' approach for maintenance/programmed.

The importance of FM on building performance and closing the gap
James Campbell, CIBSE FM Group Member / Partner, Troup Bywaters + Anders
David Stevens, Vice Chair, CIBSE FM Group

The performance of a building has a direct impact on the users comfort, wellbeing, productivity and the environment. As FM's, we are handed the responsibility to ensure that a facility meets the requirements of all users whilst keeping operational costs, energy consumption and environmental impact to a minimum. But, sometimes, we face challenges on day one just to keep services and facilities operational. There are many causes of these issues but, how many could be mitigated by earlier engagement of FM's in projects and what is the true cost of not engaging with FM's. This presentation looks at real case studies of building performance and the cost of the performance gap.
