Future workforces are becoming increasingly diverse. By 2025, the millennial generation is anticipated to comprise 75% of the global workforce, and research by Randstad suggests that more women are coming to work in the construction industry, with expectations that they will make up 26% of the workforce by 2020. However, there are still issues surrounding equality, diversity and inclusion that need addressing. For example, perceptions around equal pay still persist, with 41% of women believing they earn less than men, and BAME men are 28% less likely to work in STEM than white men.
This event, hosted by PwC as part of PwC’s Property Week and joined by WSCP, WIBSE, The CIOB, Northern Hive and EDIT Development, will focus on discussing, celebrating and challenging the property and construction sector, specifically surrounding diversity and inclusion (D&I). Targets and quotas should not be the only reason for increasing D&I in the workplace. Companies that make cultural inclusion a top priority see long-term benefits through innovation and engagement.
