This training course will cover the background to the Regulations; the stated requirements of the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations (1998).
As well as a thorough overview the trainer will cover the interpretation and application of the Regulations, as detailed in the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Approved Code of Practice Document L56, as well as the function of HSE and the Gas Safe Register.
The basic properties of gases and associated dangers will be discussed, together with practical aspects of installation, including:
- Properties of gas
- Installation materials
- Piping systems
- Identification and labelling
- Basic principles of sizing
- Gas installations in laboratories and kitchens
A Chartered Building Services Consulting Engineer, John Love started his career with G.N. Haden’s in 1964, first as a Student Apprentice and then as a Design/Contract Engineer. He subsequently joined a consultancy practice and in 1980 set up his own Practice. As well being actively involved in the design of building services in the domestic, commercial and industrial sectors, John has been lecturing and running training courses on building services design for many years and for numerous organisations, including BRECSU, EST, CIBSE and various manufacturers. He is co-author of a number of publications and writes regularly for one of the trade magazines.
