Employer of the Year

Entry deadline: 1 August 2017

Free to enter, the annual CIBSE Employer of the Year Award is open to any organisation that pro-actively champions young people in the building services sector, through commitment to young people in the workplace or by supporting those employees through education.

If that sounds like your organisation then we want to hear your story. This is your chance to share your dedication with the rest of the industry, to highlight the long-term benefits of being part of your organisation and to cement your reputation as a champion of young engineers.

All submissions are judged by a panel of esteemed representatives from across the industry. Finalists are then invited to attend the Young Engineers Awards ceremony at the IMechE on Thursday 12 October 2017 where three separate awards are presented to the best Small (<50 employees), Medium (51-300 employees), and Large (>301 employees) Employers. An overall winner is also announced and awarded the ultimate accolade of CIBSE Employer of the Year.

What the Judges are looking for

  • 200 words (max) giving a brief overview of the company
  • 1,000 words (max) describing the ways and the extent to which the company works with and develops young people, including young employees, schools, and colleges.
  • 750 words (max) from a young engineer within the company about their experience as a young engineer with the company, and why they endorse the company's entry.

All category winners are all in with a chance to win the coveted prize of CIBSE Employer of the Year 2017 and an engraved trophy.

Shorlisted finalists:

  • Feature in a write up in the CIBSE Journal (read the 2016 article)
  • Feature in an article on CIBSE website News feed (read the 2016 press release)
  • Feature in a CIBSE press release distributed to industry press
  • Invited to attend the Young Engineers Awards 2017 ceremony at IMechE on 12 October 2017 
  • Have use of the CIBSE Employer of the Year shortlisted logo
Winners:
  • Receive a certificate in recognition of their work
  • Use of the CIBSE Employer of the Year winners logo
  • Feature in a write up in the CIBSE Journal (read the 2016 article)
  • Feature in an article on the CIBSE website News feed (read 2016 article)
  • Featured in the CIBSE Young Engineers Awards Winners press release
  • Are sent photographs from the winners presentation
