Dr Hywel Davies, Technical Director, CIBSE
 
Leading technical and policy development work, Hywel is particularly focused on policy areas that influence the performance of buildings, including Building and Energy related Regulations and Building Information Modelling. Participating in a range of government and industry policy development groups.
 
Hywel provides advice and is engaged in research projects on technical and policy issues, particularly energy efficiency, BIM and other regulatory matters.

Craig Rodgers, Innovation Lead - Office, CHARTER HALL

Craig currently leads innovation for Charter Hall Office focused on identifying emerging property technologies, sector disruptions and customer trends across the Office business.
 
Craig has over 20 years’ experience in the commercial real estate and hospitality sectors covering Australia, China, Japan and South Africa and was previously the Head of Technical Services for Charter Hall.

Matt Clifford, Head of Energy and Sustainability Services, JLL Asia Pacific 

Matt is the Head of JLL's Energy and Sustainability Services team across Asia Pacific. Matt and his team, of over 60 specialists, provide services for clients in all Asia Pacific locations, particularly across the following key areas:

  • Green building certification
  • Energy management
  • Data and compliance management


Chris Wallbank, Head of Energy and Sustainability Services, JLL Australia

Chris is the architect of JLL's sustainability platform for investor and occupier clients in Asia Pacific. His primary focus areas being new building/high performance design and transition, along with asset repositioning strategies/ integrated delivery and development of JLL's Energy and Sustainability  Reporting (ESPR) and Analytics (ESPA) platform to deliver cost, performance and brand benefits to clients.


BIM IN THE SMART BUILDING

Brett Naylor, Group Manager – Digital Delivery, BECA

Brett has 20 years of experience working within the AEC industry across the Aviation, Rail, Commercial, Education and Industrial sectors. Brett previously worked in the UK for a BIM Consultancy. He now leads the implementation of BIM across Beca and works with clients defining
asset information requirements and delivery methods.

Jon Clarke, Associate Director & Controls Gp Mgr Digital Buildings, NDY

Jon has been in the controls and automation industry for over 30 years with many of those as a systems integrator and designer. Jon has consulted to major building portfolio owners and technology manufacturers with a focus on integrated solutions, and is at the leading edge of data analytics and “smart” building technology. Jon leads the NDY Digital Buildings team in Sydney working with global clients to create IoT standards disrupting the industry into the next generation of cloud enabled buildings.



 

SYSTEM ENGINEERING & ARCHITECTURE OF A SMART BUILDING

Paul Dearlove, Technical Director, IBMS

Paul is the Technical Director and one of the founding owners of IBMS Pty Ltd.  He has extensive experience in commercial building design, communications, control systems and the integration of Extra Low Voltage Systems (IELVS).

Paul has been heavily involved in cutting edge technology in the Building/IT industry for over 30 years.  He has a sound understanding of project management issues including commercial and financial aspects, contract law and managing multiple deadlines.

Cameron Sandell, Senior Consultant, IBMS

Cameron is a senior Consultant with IBMS based in Sydney. His career in building technology systems has spanned some 24 years with a further 4 years in Facilities Management. During this time his roles have involved technology systems design, installation and commissioning as well as senior business management functions in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Darwin and Singapore.



CYBER SECURITY IN A SMART BUILDING

Wayne Gass, Senior Security Consultant, JACOBS

Wayne has been operating as a licensed security consultant with Jacobs for the last 10 years.
 
During this time, Wayne has had extensive exposure in a wide range of markets including Health Care, Tertiary, Correctional, Judicial and Commercial Facilities and comprehensive exposure to Industrial Facility projects both nationally and abroad.
 
Wayne has been responsible for the security services design and delivery on iconic projects such as Fiona Stanley Hospital, the Cathedral Square Precinct including the State Administrative Tribunal and Supreme Court Civil and the soon to be completed Woodside Headquarters Project.
 
Wayne has witnessed first-hand the evolution of building systems from analogue standalone platforms to fully integrated smart IP systems and with this experience is fully aware of the cyber security implications associated with these interconnected systems.
