CIBSE ANZ Graduate of the Year | 2021
 

Finalists' Prize: Finalists will receive an invitation, flights and accommodation to attend the Awards function. They will be recognised with a certificate of achievement and have their achievement celebrated on social media and across CIBSE's communication platforms.

First Prize: The winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize, trophy, and have their achievement celebrated on social media and across CIBSE's communication platforms.,


Closing Date for Entries: 27 May 2021
 

CIBSE ANZ Annual Cocktail Function and Awards Presentation: Winners will be announced at an Awards function at 6pm, 22 July 2021, at Parliament of NSW, Sydney.

If social gathering restrictions due to COVID prevent us from hosting the ceremony in-person, the Awards ceremony will be held online. A decision will be made closer to the event date.

ELIGIBILITY

The applicant must:

  • Have completed study between 1 Jan 2019 and 31 Dec 2020 with up to 2 years of industry experience.
  • Be employed within the Australia and New Zealand region as a building services engineer or as building services professional.

The applicant can be self-nominated, but a statement from senior management will be required to support the application.


NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS

A written and video component of the entry form must be submitted to CIBSE, addressing the Assessment Criteria for the award. 

Written Submission
The applicant can be self-nominated, but a statement from senior management will be required to support the application, addressing:

  •   What the young engineer has achieved academically and/or in practical projects (answer in 250 words max)

  •   Why your nominee would make a good ambassador for the building services profession (answer in up to 250 words max)

 
Video Submission

For the video component of the entry, the overarching theme this year is Preparing for the unknown.  The challenge we face is to create spaces designed to last several generations while retaining the flexibility to change according to physical requirements, technology, and cultural trends?

Please submit a short video, up to 3 mins, addressing the following question:

What do you wish you’d been taught in your studies to help prepare you for the disruptions of 2020? What have you learnt about how buildings have changed in the way they operate and how could this have been addressed through design?


ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

For the written submission, nominees will be assessed in accordance with their ability to demonstrate the following:

  •   Significance of contribution to Building Services

  •   Demonstration of exceeding best practice standard

  •   Demonstration of technical understanding of either their discipline or the industry.

For the video submission, nominees will be assessed according to the following criteria:

  • ‚Äč  Presentation Skills/ Clarity

  •   Originality/ Thoughtfulness

  •   Drive/Passion
