Troup Bywaters + Anders

Troup Bywaters + Anders are a high-performing building services partnership employing 230 people in eight offices across the UK.

Continuous learning and development for all our people is at the core of our business. Our model has always been to promote from within, with over 75% of our business owners starting their careers with us. We are passionate about our apprenticeship programme and offer advanced, higher and degree apprenticeships supporting professional advancement to Chartered status using our CIBSE approved T&D scheme.

This approach has so far seen us through the pandemic with all our people nationally pulling together to drive the business forward. We are committed to a new in-take of 8 apprentices starting with us in September and we have been be able to offer some apprentices the opportunity to join us having been made redundant during these difficult times.

The CIBSE Young Engineer Awards provides us with an opportunity to not only showcase our commitment to young engineers but also challenges us to continually raise the bar to be the best we can be.

Why did we enter?

We entered this award as we wanted to showcase the variety of opportunities that we offer to young engineers and aspiring engineers through our commitment to learning and development within the built environment. As our mission says, we provide great opportunities for our people, create fantastic built environments and positively impact our communities.

This commitment to our community is shown through our participation in growing engineering talent within schools and also through our formal early careers programmes, which is why we wanted to share all the great work that we do with the rest of the industry.

We are always committed to helping build a pipeline of engineering talent, and even during these uncertain times we are still welcoming new graduates to commence their employment and development journey with us.

Our excellent graduate and apprenticeship programmes managed by our Learning and Development team, have been updated to ensure we deliver the best remote learning and knowledge sharing even during the current situation, so our young engineers do not miss out on their valuable development.

We are very happy that this work has been recognised and shortlisted by CIBSE, and we are looking forward to attending the virtual awards ceremony.
