This consultation from Communities and Local Government proposed changes to the planning system affecting installation of microgeneration on domestic properties in England and Wales. It sought to create a more permissive regime, removing the need to apply for planning permission for many properties. CIBSE responded on 25/06/2005 and supported relaxation of the rules which would reduce bureaucracy and make it easier for householders to respond to climate change. CIBSE also warned against loss of effectiveness in retrofit in conservation areas if technologies are forced into ineffective positions and called for expert validation or at least input on sites where there are potential problems.
