Discover a New World of Building Systems Performance at the Technical Symposium 2014

The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineer (CIBSE) invites experts to submit papers for the CIBSE ASHRAE Technical Symposium 2014: ‘Moving to a New World of Building Systems Performance'. The highly anticipated event for building services industry practitioners and students across the building services industry will be held at the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) 3-4th April 2014.

CIBSE President George Adams said: "The CIBSE ASHRAE Technical Symposium is an exciting two-day event which tackles a fascinating range of cutting edge subjects. It is a unique opportunity for members and industry experts to share knowledge on and debate important issues in the built environment, such as the adaptation of cities to the impact of population growth and climate change."

The fourth annual Technical Symposium aims to encourage the participation of researchers and practicing engineers to share experiences and develop networks. Young engineers, both students and those early in their careers, are particularly encouraged to attend.

Submitted papers concerning research and development may address:

  • Enhanced building engineering solutions through modelling and prediction

  • Innovation in passive and active building systems

  • Design and operation of future cities

  • Improving the operation of the built environment

  • Maintaining and improving legacy building systems

  • The development and impact of benchmarks, standards and regulatory measures

  • Communication, skills and workforce development

The event is supported by Future Cities Catapult, reflecting a key aim of the event which is to improve building performance of cities in changing conditions. With population and temperatures rising, buildings need to be resilient whilst saving energy due to low resources and high demands.

Please email abstracts to by 15th September. All accepted papers will be peer reviewed and will be featured in the technical journal Building Services Engineering Research & Technology (BSERT).
