Join WiBSE Steering Group
WiBSE is looking for new people to join their steering group and get involved in their activities over the next few years in all areas of the UK and abroad. It is a networking group, initially set up to help promote diversity and inclusion within building services, but has widened its reach to include all areas of construction to promote inter sector networking and to encompass the valued contribution that other disciplines can bring. Over the last few years we have facilitated a number of events such as peer to peer networking, management and leadership training as well as speaker led events, all of which have contributed to promoting good working practices and empowerment, as well as reaching out to those people who need support and feel unable to obtain it in their current environment or circumstances. WiBSE works in partnership with external construction and engineering careers organisations as well as other professional bodies.
The Group is made up of approximately 10+ members who include CIBSE members, as well as representatives from other engineering and construction careers promotion bodies and organisations. The group normally meets up to four times a year with location varying dependant on attendees and generally online access to meetings is made available. Going forward we are looking for a diverse steering group that includes both men and women.
Volunteering with the steering group can give people the opportunity to network, gain in confidence (attending events, meetings, speaking at events), gives valuable volunteering experience for CV’s and for future volunteering roles such as on committees. There is an opportunity for profile raising and adding something towards social and corporate responsibility should this be something that employers require. No fee will be paid for volunteer members of the steering group.
If you feel that you would like to contribute in any way, then please email firstname.lastname@example.org, with your details, a short bio and a comment about what you can contribute to the group. Please submit your requests for review by 31 March 2016 and we will contact you to discuss further.
