Membership Development Executive

CIBSE is looking for an experienced, energetic, enthusiastic Membership Development Executive to attract, retain and engage members in the charity's work.

The ideal candidate will be a confident public speaker who is great at presenting. Working closely with the Marketing team, universities, colleges and training providers, you will run webinars and workshops that promote student and graduate membership of CIBSE and registration with the engineering council.

Key Responsibilities

  • Systematically and regularly follow up, engage and convert leads into membership via phone campaigns and email
  • Provide information and guidance to prospective members and enquirers by telephone and email
  • Promote the routes to professional registration (EngTech, IEng, CEng) to existing non-registrants and non-members
  • Record all activity on the CRM database including inputting potential members’ information, selecting members who are likely to upgrade and monitor existing member data for follow-up actions
  • Assist in the coordination and promotion of various membership development events and forums, and attend these events as required
  • Update the CIBSE website and regularly contribute to the CIBSE Journal and E-News promoting membership activities
  • Record and monitor the results of recruitment and retention activities to provide progress against targets
  • Manage and execute Student recruitment/development activities which will include communication via phone email and webinars
  • Proactively seek student development opportunities
  • Establish and maintain relationships with course tutors and course leaders at universities and colleges to help promote CIBSE membership.
  • Work closely with Marketing to promote CIBSE membership (LCIBSE and Student grades) and contribute to developing campaigns via email and social media
  • Proactively engage with Student members on possibilities to upgrade into corporate membership (LCIBSE EngTech, Associate IEng, Member CEng)
  • Manage and execute the Closing Date Surgeries – managing attendance, coordinating interviewers, and ensuring all leads are proactively converted into membership.
  • Assist in managing and promoting membership awards
  • Assist in the processing of membership applications including student and graduate membership applications and applications for FCIBSE, MCIBSE, ACIBSE and LCIBSE

Skills, experience and qualifications

  • Experience working in a professional membership organisation (desirable)
  • Experience working in a membership/customer-focused environment
  • Experience in delivering presentations online and in-person
  • The ability to communicate complex information to members/prospective members
  • Self-motivated and able to use own initiative
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage a variety of projects and tasks at one time.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines with good personal organisation and time management skills
  • Experience working with Salesforce (desirable)
