The Institute of Local Exhaust Ventilation Engineers (ILEVE) are looking for an Honorary Secretary to join their Steering Committee.

The Honorary Secretary of a CIBSE Society or Institute is responsible for the following responsibilities; individual tasks may on occasion be delegated to other Committee members, Society members, external volunteers and CIBSE members of staff. The Secretary acts as an information and reference point for the Chair and other committee members. As an Honorary Sectary you will work in close collaboration with the CIBSE Membership Services Team.

  • Prepare agendas and write minutes for all meetings of the Steering Committee and to keep all Society records. CIBSE have provided Microsoft Teams which can be used as a repository for Society records.
  • The Sectary has access to the Society rules so will be expected to advise the Society Chair on procedures for meetings, votes, motions, application of the rules etc
  • Clarifying past practice and decisions and retrieving relevant documentation
  • Ensure that CIBSE has up-to-date information on Society events and activities
  • Assist CIBSE in organising the Societies AGM: notifying officers, nominated candidates and members, of their selection, nomination or appointment. They will also be expected to assist with the coordination of AGM calling notices and reminders
  • The Sectary will also be able to be involved with the Steering Committee in other ways for example sub-committees and working groups
  • Collaborate with Secretary's of other CIBSE Networks: Societies, Groups and Regions
  • It is expected for the Secretary to be in attendance at all Society events and meetings as far as possible
