Session 9 Poster 1, CIBSE ASHRAE Technical Symposium, Imperial College, London, UK
18-19th April 2012
Passive solar systems have been used for centuries as a cost-effective strategy for energy conservation in buildings. Designers and energy efficiency auditors require reliable energy estimation models in order to correctly evaluate different strategies for passive solar utilization.
ISO 13790:2008 gives a monthly balance methodology that provides a lighter means for energy performance evaluation as opposed to dynamic simulation, but development of accurate quasy-steady-state models capable of summarizing the dynamic behaviour of passive solar systems has proven difficult.
Limitations of existing simplified models diminish their accuracy and applicability. The goal of the study is to provide new, improved quasi-steady-state models.
