Session 3 Paper 1, CIBSE Technical Symposium, Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool
11-12 April 2013

Green Factory has been developing unusual energy efficient buildings mainly for private clients. There is little published information available on the operational performance of the systems used in these developments, and in particular of the interoperation of multiple systems. This paper covers the design and installation of instrumentation to provide information to the owners, operators and to academic researchers:

- By monitoring of the operational energy demand to identify and inform building users of their energy consumption patterns, and enable occupants an informed choice of energy use.
- Monitoring heat flows and temperatures to identify the efficiency of the MVHR systems in use, and how the efficiency is affected by sun-space's pre-heated air.
- Integration of the renewable energy systems and all building services equipment to identify potential improvement in efficiency and compatibility.
- Develop integration of software programmes to enable a variety of systems to be monitored collectively to predict and manage energy use.
