Performance Characterisation of HVAC&R Systems for Building Energy Benchmark

Heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC&R) systems account for more than 60% of the energy consumption of buildings in the UK [1]. However, the influence of variety of HVAC&R systems on building energy performance is not taken into account in the existing building energy benchmarks. This study attempts to fill this gap through performance investigation of variety of HVAC&R systems based on simultaneous dynamic simulation of building and HVAC&R system.
