Past and Future

The Sam Wanamaker Playhouse is the indoor sister theatre to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. The Playhouse is entirely lit by candlelight.

Speakers include Martin White, Emeritus Professor of Theatre at the University of Bristol and Historical Consultant to the Royal Shakespeare Company. Martin is the world authority on the use of early light sources in theatre such as candlelight, tallow and lime.

The Wanamaker Playhouse's Production Manager, Paul Russell will also be offering an insight into running the theatre using candlelight extensively.

Finally, Paul Rudy, Co-founder and Senior Vice President of SORAA Laser in California will be discussing and demonstrating the future light source that could replace LEDs.

Registration is from 18:00 for an 18:45 start.
