CPD Hours

CIBSE, supported by the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC), has developed this training course to ensure that the skills necessary to implement the new CIBSE Heat Networks Code of Practice (CP1) are available across the building services sector. The Code has been written to cover all stages of the development cycle of a project from feasibility through design, construction, commissioning, and operation.

This is a two-day course aimed at practicing engineers looking for a detailed understanding of the themes and technical challenges dealt with by the Code.

Following the course, there is an opportunity to take an exam which allows entry to the Heat Networks Consultant register. For more information about the exam and certification as a Heat Networks Consultant please see the “Need to know” section.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course you will:

  • Gain an understanding of the aims and context of the code of practice
  • Learn about the current challenges for heat network design
  • Discover how the code should be used, and the key goals running through the document
  • Be able to apply the code to different types of heat networks
  • Understand the key objectives and minimum requirements for each stage of the code

Matthew is a Regional Director at AECOM and is primarily focused on delivering decentralised, low and zero carbon energy solutions for both new developments and existing communities.
