The fifth Masterclass of the new lighting knowledge series, which focusses on Human Responses to Light will be held at M-Shed, Bristol on 30 March 2017.
Speakers include Chris Wilkes (Holophane), Peter Thorns (Thorn), Helen Loomes (Trilux) and Patrick van der Meulen (Xicato). Guest speakers will be announced shortly.
Quality lighting is key to our experience of a space, as well as our health and well-being. Within the new series, speakers will be discussing case studies and current research that relates to psychological, physiological, emotional, cultural and visual responses to light in a variety of environments.
Topics for discussion include
· Circadian rhythms and the potential benefits of dynamic lighting, with particular reference to shift workers and industrial environments.
· Lighting in the exterior environment and the potential impacts of light pollution and sky glow.
· How the application and control of lighting within cultural spaces such as galleries can effect an individual’s experience, as well as the conservation of cultural items.
· 12 ways to make quality lighting easy, focusing on illumination, modelling, colour and contrast.
There will be examples taken from the latest research, as well as case studies throughout the presentations.
This series will also see the continuation of Lighter’s Question Time, giving the audience an opportunity to interact with the panel of experts.
All of the presentation are brand new and peer reviewed, providing the opportunity to add 4.5 hours to your CPD.
The Masterclasses are designed to present the most current information on topics relevant to the lighting industry and those within related industries. As a learned Society, we also aim to provide public benefit through lighting education.
