Since the discovery of the intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cell (ipRGCs), researchers have been actively exploring non-visual effects of light. Whilst findings have led to a deeper scientific understanding, there have also been a number of premature claims relating to lighting systems which support human health. As a result, there has been concern from lighting professionals and a call for more substantiated evidence.

The objective of this symposium is to set out where and how lighting can confidently be applied to support human health.
