Energy and Carbon Emissions

Back to Sustainability Overview

This is a broad area of activity, coming under the overarching issue of climate change. The UK Government-commissioned Stern Review states that, 'The scientific evidence is now overwhelming: climate change presents very serious global risks, and it demands an urgent global response.'  The UK government has committed the UK to reduce carbon emissions by 80% from 1990 levels by 2050 and many other countries are proceeding with national legislation on climate change. All building professionals have a responsibility to reduce carbon emissions through the application of good practice which includes:

  • Reducing energy demand
