CIBSE Patrons

Introduction

CIBSE's Patrons scheme was set-up in 1979 as a way of developing closer links and working between the Institution and a broad range of organisations involved in the building services engineering industry.

Patrons work together to use their wide ranging expertise to strengthen the building services industry, through collaboration and co-operation with the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and other related organisations.

Patron's funds and voluntary resources are used to support initiatives and innovations that have a direct relationship to the betterment of the building services industry, and which encourage the use of best practice in sustainability, health and safety, environmental quality and work efficiencies, recruitment, education and other matters of concern to the industry.

The Patrons meet at least every quarter, usually in central London, to discuss industry issues and to review projects the group is undertaking. At most meetings there is a presentation on a topical issue of relevance to the building services industry and sometimes technical site visits are arranged. Between these meetings, a Steering Committee meets to order the agenda for the main meetings and to deal with matters that need aquick response.
