Munish Datta

Head of Facilities Management and Plan A, Marks and Spencer

Munish Datta heads the creation of the strategy and delivery of Plan A (M&S’s sustainability programme) for M&S properties across the world, and heads up the team that delivers facilities management for all M&S UK head offices. He is an honorary Senior Associate of the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and a member of the governments ‘Green Construction Board’.
Within its built environment, Plan A has enabled the retailer to become 39% more energy efficient, 31% more water efficient, divert all waste from landfill since 2012, become an industry leader in sourcing renewable energy and launch multi-award winning sustainable retail stores across the world. Since 2007, applying Plan A to M&S properties has contributed over £190m in net benefits. Munish contributes to several industry task groups, is a judge in industry awards and sits on the advisory council of the National Energy Foundation. He speaks regularly at industry events and conferences and is a regular guest speaker and advisory board member at the University of Oxford Masters in Sustainable Urban Design. Munish is a trustee of Rama Foundation, a registered charity developing capacities and skills of disadvantaged communities around the world.
