Pub Quiz 2014
CIBSE YEN London Centre presents... Pub Quiz 2014
19th February 2014 By Jairo A Jaramillo
The now yearly YEN London Pub Quiz started our 2014 calendar of events with a real bang and we were delighted to have a sold out attendance of 25 people form into mixed teams of 4-5 contestants vying against each other to take home the wine and chocolates.
Attendees were welcomed with fine food and drink at the customary Grafton Arms venue courtesy of our sponsors AO Smith before the quick fire questions came our way, minds being tested by a good variety of general knowledge, geography, sports and Building Services related questions. There were laughs aplenty as contestants struggled with the ‘Guess the Logo’ round, and we were delighted to see a complete absence (we think) of clandestine search engine usage! A break for the hot food buffet allowed guests to mingle with each other and network, always something we like to see at YEN London Centre events, before the quiz revved up again for the final home straight.
All rounds successfully navigated, we waited in eager anticipation of the results and here there was some mild controversy as the judges were forced to apply the ‘Quizmaster is always right’ principle over this tricky question: What is the number of coloured balls in a game of snooker? Answers as always on a postcard please!
The winning team, a five strong combo from large interdisciplinary consultant WSP’s Chancery Lane office took home a bottle of wine each and a pack of Celebrations – which I’m reliably informed were shared with their office colleagues, how charitable.
My thanks for a fantastic event go out to organisers and dual quizmasters David Mather and Jason Smith, whose tireless efforts ensured everyone enjoyed their evening. A mention also for our gracious sponsors AO Smith for their fantastic support. Fingers on buzzers and see you all next year!
