Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Our client is looking to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer to support their expanding portfolio of complex, high-profile building services projects across the UK and internationally. Established in 1986 they have over 30 years' experience delivering high-quality MEP consultancy, sustainable engineering solutions and specialist technical services across the commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, embassy and infrastructure sectors. Joining a highly skilled multidisciplinary MEP team, you will play a key role in the delivery of electrical building services designs across a diverse range of refurbishment, fit-out and new-build projects. Working from initial feasibility and concept design through to detailed design, installation support and post-occupancy review, you will contribute to prestigious developments including luxury hotels, embassies, commercial offices, high-end residential schemes and major refurbishment projects. This is a hands-on design role requiring strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills and the ability to work confidently both independently and as part of a collaborative design team. You will liaise closely with clients, architects and fellow engineers to develop innovative, practical and sustainable engineering solutions while delivering projects to the highest technical and commercial standards. Responsibilities: Produce electrical building services designs across all RIBA Work Stages (1–7), taking projects from initial feasibility and concept design through to construction, commissioning and post-completion support. Design and specify LV power distribution, mains and sub-mains distribution, cable containment, small power, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm systems and associated electrical building services. Develop performance specifications, calculations, technical reports, scope of works and tender documentation, ensuring compliance with current legislation, Building Regulations and industry standards. Design and coordinate specialist electrical systems, including earthing and bonding, lightning protection, UPS systems, standby generation, HV/LV distribution and renewable energy technologies where required. Attend client, design and project meetings, providing technical advice, engineering reviews and feasibility studies throughout the project lifecycle. Undertake site inspections, monitor construction progress and provide technical support during installation, commissioning and project handover, ensuring designs are delivered in accordance with project requirements and quality standards. Requirements : Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline. Proven experience delivering electrical building services designs within a UK consultancy or contractor environment.
