This is a design-focused role working primarily on highway and drainage engineering projects, supporting developments across a wide range of sectors. The Role This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys being hands-on with design and technical delivery. You’ll work closely with the highway and drainage teams, supporting projects from concept through detailed design. Key Responsibilities Produce detailed highway design packages for a range of infrastructure projects Support and coordinate with the drainage engineer on integrated designs Prepare technical drawings, layouts, and models Assist with design reports, specifications, and technical documentation Work under senior engineers while gradually taking on more technical ownership Participate in design reviews and project coordination meetings This is primarily a design role, not a project management-heavy position. Project Exposure Projects are largely driven by housing developers, with additional work across: Commercial developments Retail and office schemes Schools and institutional projects Ideal Experience 5–9 years of civil engineering experience Strong background in highway design Exposure to drainage design and multidisciplinary coordination Transportation planning experience is a plus, but not required Software Experience AutoCAD (required) Microsoft Office (required) 3D modelling/design software (preferred) MicroDrainage (ideal, but not essential)

Ability to coordinate electrical requirements with associated MEP skillsets/requirements. Highly articulate and numerate. Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage and drive within complex and agile team structures. Ability to prepare technical specification documents, such as scoping of works. Ability to contribute to written reports and presentations for a diverse range of audiences. An autonomous approach, with the capability of planning one’s own workload (recognising deadlines) and communicating effectively. Good IT skills (Word/Excel/Microsoft Office). Full UK driving licence. Desired Skills: Membership of a professional engineering body (such as MCIBSE or MIET). Experience in the design of fire safety systems. Experience in the design of low-voltage switch panel systems. Experience in the design of building energy management systems (BEMS) and control panels/control strategies.
