Revit Technician

ROLE OVERVIEW: Revit Technician to work alongside our MEP engineering teams to deliver accurate high-quality MEP Revit models and drawings sheets in line with agreed standards, while working closely to agreed company Revit/BIM protocols. RESPONSIBILITIES: Design and Project Interface Model MEP services on various projects using Revit, Dynamo, AutoCAD and Navisworks. Implement best practice procedures. Set up and utilise templates. Work using central files and manage collaborative models. Create and modify dynamic blocks and parametric families. Liaise closely with the engineering teams to deliver accurate 3D models and 2D drawings. Coordinate drawing production in line with agreed project requirements in conjunction with all other disciplines, while delivering to agreed programme. Liaise with the external teams relating to model exchange, clash detection/resolution, and general queries, etc. Carry out regular (weekly) clash detection and resolution. Management Monitor workload against deliverables. Provide regular updates to the line manager. Utilise a high level of oral and written communication to ensure clarity of communication both internally and externally. Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance procedures. Health & Safety Report all accidents/incidents or near misses. Always ensure adherence to all H&S requirements. Technical Work to improve knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health Engineering terminology, sufficient to understand their impact in the overall design, and converse at a reasonable level. Work to improve working knowledge of Revit, Dynamo, AutoCAD, Navisworks. Undertake Continual Professional Development by reading technical journals, attending relevant technical seminars from time to time and attending in house seminars aimed at increasing technical and operational knowledge. Financial Maintain the required level of utilisation and complete timesheet on a weekly basis.

BIM Technical Manager

ROLE OVERVIEW: The BIM Technical Manager role entails taking ownership of production of our BIM models (and also all 2D and 3D drawings) to ensure that they are delivered to a consistently high quality across all projects and in accordance with agreed programs. The BIM Technical Manager will also drive the organisation’s transition to BIM with the ultimate goal that the workstreams of the MEP engineers and BIM Technicians is seamless. To achieve this all engineers will need to be fully conversant in Revit and all supporting software, in order to deliver coordinated BIM models (and also 3D drawings) from inception to completion of future projects. The BIM/CAD Manager is required to identify, influence and implement change, as well as keeping abreast of developments within the industry. RESPONSIBILITIES: Management Organise and manage regular weekly meetings with BIM/CAD staff and team leaders to determine current and foreseen workload and utilization. Report on the company’s current and projected status regarding BIM implementation. Create upgrade and deployment strategies for the BIM implementation including advising on current workflow, strategies, budgets, projects, staffing, etc in terms of design teams and project requirements. Create a plan for implementation. Demonstrate the company’s BIM success by evaluating goals that were established in the earlier phases. Set targets and monitor workload against deliverables. Report any feedback or issues concerning either projects or team to the directors. Training and HR Management Undertake fundamental and intermediate internal training of staff or advise on requirements for Revit. Manage and lead internal CPD Revit training sessions. Provide technical orientation to new employees in respect of Revit/BIM tools. Write a competency test for new employees to test skills in BIM/Revit. Maintain a high level of competency in the most up-to-date software by ensuring regular use and training. Ensure effective performance management standards are maintained within the CAD/BIM team and deal with poor performance (where it arises). Undertake staff appraisals. Manage the department recruitment process. Promote team morale and encourage cooperation, collaboration and team working. In conjunction with Directors, help retain high quality staff. Standards Take responsibility for the integration of BIM (and CAD) standards development, implementation and enforcement. Advise on the creation and maintenance of the BIM (and CAD) software template files to assure standards. Assist in developing and enforcing BIM documentation and workflow process standards. Utilise a good level of oral and written communication (excellent report writing skills, in particular) setting the highest standards of communication both internally and externally. Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance procedures, completeness and adherence to company standards of all drawings produced. Financial Ensure commercial awareness of the BIM &CAD deliverables on all projects and regularly review the position and report to the Project Director. Provide continued feedback on time and money spent on projects, ultimately providing costing guidelines for future likeminded projects so that fees can be accurate. Maintain the required level of utilisation and complete timesheet on a weekly basis. Project Interface – BIM Project Management Assess the needs of clients and users and agreeing the project brief. Support project standards coordination with staff and clients. Manage the process of creating Revit families in response to project need. Assist in the resolution of BIM design issues providing a co-ordination role. Utilise experience in BIM methods and procedures and responding to EIRs, authoring or contributing to BIM Execution Plans and setting up delivery mechanisms to meet the clients BIM requirements. Keep project documentation up-to-date and comply with file management protocols. Hardware and Software Management Manage, in conjunction with our IT support team, the hardware and software needs of the team including preparing planned replacement schedules, budgets etc. Evaluate new software and hardware and report on its suitability. Health & Safety Report all accidents/incidents or near misses. Ensure adherence to all H&S requirements at all times. Review and action where necessary findings provided by any member of the team internal or external under your direction during their review of accidents/incidents/near misses. Provide management with health and safety information as and when required.

Senior Public Health Engineer

ROLE OVERVIEW: The Senior Public Health Engineers role will involve ensuring the completion of projects by actively driving design initiatives, acting as a key point of contact and information, developing designs and working through calculations.  The Public Health Engineer shall demonstrate excellent skills in engineering design and be experienced working on projects from inception to completion without supervision across various sectors (notably but not limited to commercial and residential). The Public Health Engineer will be involved all aspects of design for Public Health and Fire Protection engineering across all our project sectors. In addition to the above, they will also be responsible for improving our quality control and standards, working within a team and by helping our business develop. They will design, manage and deliver the public health design in accordance with all codes and practices/standards, delivering professional and positive service within a team environment. DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES Design Design safe, economical and reliable Public Health systems (including designing below ground drainage systems, blue roof drain systems, soil and waste systems, hot and cold-water domestic services, rainwater disposal systems (including harvesting, attenuation), fire protection systems, gas system design) to meet the contractual scope of work and comply with the applicable standards and regulations. Development and preparation of Public Health design calculations, drawings, specifications, and tender documents to define Public Health systems. Preparation of outline scheme report / technical content of the design information. Check tender submissions, drawings and technical submittals to ensure quality of products and equipment are in accordance with design. Coordinate Public Health design with other disciplines (e.g. architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical) to minimise conflicts and avoid costly revisions. Attend site to undertake acquisition surveys on behalf of the client culminating in detailed report. Attend site to survey existing Public Health systems in relation to project refurbishments. Attend site during construction and review Public Health systems for quality and compliance where appointed to do so. Undertake site visits and monitor progress against the design with minimal supervision. Assist subcontractors to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications and resolve problems during construction. Undertake peer reviews on Public Health systems on a variety of projects designed by others. Able to complete internal audits of Public Health designs performed by others. Management Be aware of design deliverables on each project, the agreed fee/programme, and be able to work within those parameters when delivering Public Health design. Monitor workload against deliverables at regular intervals. Work cohesively and positively with the other members of the internal and external team when delivering the Public Health design. Attend design workshops and design team meetings where appropriate in relation to the Public Health design. Be a focal point of knowledge and help to other engineers looking to improve their knowledge in Public Health design. Assist with planning work schedules to meet project programmes. Provide regular updates to line manager. Utilise a high level of oral and written communication (report writing, in particular) to ensure clarity of communication both internally and externally. Build relationships and contacts with potential sources of new work, maintain existing relationships. On occasion assist with the delivery of presentations and pitches. Coordinate with other discipline engineers as applicable for the continuity of the design process. Attend progress, design team and coordination meetings where required. Provide input to pre-qualification and selection of contractors, respond to tender queries, comment and review tender returns. Obtain the necessary information from stakeholders both internally and externally (e.g. Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Design Consultants) to enable the design to proceed. Lead on all Public Health design related activities both internally and externally to their resolution. Identify and meet effectively the requirements and expectations of clients. Provide support at all stages of the design process on related projects, in particular bring specialist insight into the concept design stage to ensure the subsequent design stages are developed with a winning strategy and appropriate level of innovation. Health & Safety Ensure adherence to H&S standards and requirements at all times and ensure that all activities are performed in a safe manner. Demonstrate a sound understanding of the CDM Regulations and their implementation when carrying out all duties. Be able to formulate design risk assessments relating to Public Health services from inception through each design stage. Use and maintain appropriate PPE. Report all accidents/incidents or near misses. Quality Assurance Ensure the relevant QA procedures are followed. Maintain, develop and retain the highest appropriate standard of technical skill. Ensure the project work complies with the Project Management Plan and Programme. Technical Demonstrate an understanding of BSRIA BG6 2018, RIBA stages, Part L, BREEAM, renewable technologies and soft landings, and their implications to each stage of the Public Health design process. Demonstrate a reasonable understanding of other MEP engineering disciplines, other than your own, sufficient to understand their impact in the overall design, and converse at a reasonable level. Develop ability to use AutoCAD and Revit. Undertake Continual Professional Development by reading technical journals, attending relevant IEE/CIBSE technical seminars from time to time and attending in house seminars aimed at increasing technical and operational knowledge. Financial Develop understanding of project costing principles and control changes during project development. May on occasion assist with preparation of fee proposals. Maintain required level of utilisation and complete timesheet on a weekly basis. Keep line manager up to date with progress against deliverables and identify where and why time deadlines cannot be met. Utilise Union Square to populate project information, manage resource, include financial information and monitor progress relating the Public Health Design. Project Interface Attend design team and client meetings, on occasion as the company’s only representative.
