Mechanical Design Engineer

Responsibilities: Lead the mechanical / electrical design on several small projects (up to £5M) or one medium sized project (up to £20M). Prepare mechanical/electrical design to our client’s specification. Contribute to overall project implementation. Attend internal and external meetings. Prepare design drawings in AutoCAD format as required. Formulate calculations as required (this includes any modelling as necessary). Be responsible for managing your deliverables within the agreed internal project costs. Write internal and external reports. Participate in quality control and document management in line with internal systems. Undertake design audits. Assist in building surveys as appropriate. Support the mentoring of junior staff. Working towards Chartered Status with a relevant body.

Electrical Commissioning Engineer

Our client is Building Services consultancy providing single source solutions to the construction industry, property owners and property managers.  They provide solutions on all aspects of Building Services Commissioning and Client Verification and have been at the forefront of Commissioning Management for over 35 years.  As a result of growth they are looking for an Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join the team. Responsibilities will include the following: Review all commissioning related documentation Review the testing and commissioning process and plan Identify risks to the project and any potential opportunities Review and report against installation progress Review trade contractors method statements Attend regular commissioning meetings Attend off-site and factory witness tests Witness system pre-commissioning and setting to work activities Witness commissioning activities Witness of all integrated system testing Witness of all performance / environmental testing Witness testing of life safety systems in conjunction with relevant Statutory Authorities Provide detailed reports to the client at agreed frequency Issue a final summary report to the project team confirming that the services have been correctly installed and commissioned to specification Identify any outstanding works, snags or potential latent risks System commissionability reviews Development of the commissioning plan When applying for this role as Electrical Commissioning Engineer you will have skills and/or experience in the following items in order to be successful: Degree or HND in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Proven UK experience in commissioning management. Strong understanding of Electrical systems and integration within building environments. Extensive knowledge and understanding of British standards and building regulations. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong leadership and communication skills. Development of the commissioning programme, including identification of the critical path and construction milestone drivers Production and installation monitoring to specification and standards Production of monitoring documents to track factory acceptance tests, method statement production, testing, commissioning and final acceptance and sign-off

Delivery of sustainability accreditations and supporting documentation (such as BREEAM). Supporting the delivery of energy efficiency solutions to clients to reduce operational costs and improve building asset ratings. Supporting project teams by way of quality monitoring of contractor design/development, calculations, and their physical installations. Essential Skills: Minimum of three years industry experience working in building services electrical design. Formal qualifications in electrical design. A degree is not essential providing a track record of practical training and qualification has been completed. Strong analytical skills, ability to recognise and solve problems. Ability to coordinate electrical requirements with associated MEP skillsets/requirements. Highly articulate and numerate. Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage and drive within complex and agile team structures. Ability to prepare technical specification documents, such as scoping of works. Ability to contribute to written reports and presentations for a diverse range of audiences. An autonomous approach, with the capability of planning one’s own workload (recognising deadlines) and communicating effectively. Good IT skills (Word/Excel/Microsoft Office). Full UK driving licence. Desired Skills: Membership of a professional engineering body (such as MCIBSE or MIET). Experience in the design of fire safety systems. Experience in the design of low-voltage switch panel systems. Experience in the design of building energy management systems (BEMS) and control panels/control strategies.
