Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Your new role As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll take the lead on electrical design and technical delivery across a diverse range of projects. Your responsibilities will include carrying out feasibility studies, producing electrical services designs from RIBA Stages 0-4, and preparing full technical and tender documentation. You'll complete a mix of condition surveys, PPM assessments, dilapidation surveys, and pre‑acquisition inspections, while also monitoring on‑site electrical installations to ensure quality and compliance.You will act as a trusted technical advisor to clients, support the review of contractor designs, and collaborate closely with internal project teams. A key part of the role includes contributing to the continued development and growth of the regional M&E service. What you'll need to succeed To be successful, you'll bring strong technical capability, good commercial awareness, and the confidence to work independently as well as part of a team. You should have: A degree in Electrical Engineering Experience delivering electrical design from RIBA Stages 0-4 Previous experience in consultancy or a similar engineering role Competence in AutoCAD, with experience in CAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients Experience undertaking surveys and technical due diligence A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Midlands Chartered status (or working towards) is advantageous Revit experience is beneficial but not essential What you'll get in return You'll join a supportive consultancy that values flexibility, professional development, and employee wellbeing. Your new role As a Senior Electrical Services Design Engineer, you will lead the design of electrical engineering services for buildings. This includes mains electrical systems, renewable energy solutions, earthing, sub-mains electrical distribution, efficient lighting, fire alarm systems, security systems, and integration with mechanical engineering services. You will also assist associates and other design engineers with their tasks.What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will need: A strong understanding of project requirements and objectives. Experience in conducting surveys and reporting on electrical engineering systems in buildings. Skills in analysing existing systems and assessing the feasibility of new systems for effectiveness and client suitability. The ability to evaluate carbon emissions and energy-saving potential of systems. Excellent collaboration skills to work with clients, design team members, suppliers, and contractors. The capability to ensure the financial and technical success of projects where you are the project leader. Proficiency in performing design calculations and developing design proposals at various stages. Experience in preparing tender documentation and monitoring project progress and standards of workmanship on-site. Strong report-writing skills. Business development experience is a plus.
