Principal Electrical Design Engineer
Your new company I'm partnering with a leading provider of commercial decarbonisation and offsite prefabricated energy solutions who deliver major projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe. They are now seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to take a senior, strategic role within their growing design team based in Banbridge. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced electrical design professional to lead complex low‑carbon, renewable and high‑efficiency electrical systems that support major public and private sector energy projects. Your new role As Principal Electrical Design Engineer, you will lead the electrical design function, shaping technical strategy while supporting the development of cutting‑edge prefabricated and commercial heating & cooling systems. You'll work closely with mechanical, BIM and project teams to deliver fully‑coordinated M&E solutions, ensuring compliance, innovation and technical excellence throughout. You will also mentor junior engineers, advise stakeholders, and represent the design discipline during client meetings, technical reviews and project planning phases. Lead the design, development and implementation of advanced electrical systems for large‑scale prefabricated and commercial energy solutions Produce fully coordinated electrical designs including power distribution, controls, and circuit design Manage electrical design output, project scope, timelines and budgets Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across design, BIM, engineering and commercial Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to junior and intermediate electrical engineers Liaise directly with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders to align technical requirements Ensure all designs meet regulatory, client and sustainability standards What you'll need to succeed Strong experience in electrical design engineering, ideally within building services, energy, or MEP related sectors Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline (or equivalent relevant experience) Proven ability to lead design teams and manage electrical design output Strong technical understanding of power distribution, controls and commercial energy systems Confident communicator with the ability to engage clients and cross‑disciplinary teams High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance What you'll get in return If you're looking for a senior electrical design role where you can influence major low‑carbon energy projects and lead a talented engineering team-all while working from a modern facility in Banbridge-this is a superb opportunity. About the role: Due to continued growth in the company, a new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer in Edinburgh, to join a growing and highly respected team, in a predominantly office-based role, working on major projects throughout the UK and Europe. This role will involve developing and delivering designs to facilitate safe and compliant installations on site. Main Responsibilities: Designing in conjunction with fire strategy reports, local building regulations & planning authority requirements. Attending Design team meetings. Carrying out site surveys of existing installations where applicable. Producing heating/cooling (thermal modelling) and ventilation load calculations using industry software Sizing and selection of AHUs, FCUs, extract fans, pumps, chillers, ASHP, boilers, plate heat exchangers etc Producing above ground drainage calculations and sizing of drainage systems Sizing and selection of domestic hot and cold-water equipment (heaters, storage tanks etc) Producing pipe and duct sizing calculations using industry software or other desktop spreadsheets Sizing and selection of firefighting sprinkler and pumping systems (preferred but not essential) Producing stage reports & presentations. Preparing Designers Risk Assessment and Mitigation Reports Detailing mechanical layouts & schematics for build. Meeting project delivery deadlines. Production of detailed design and survey reports. What you'll need to succeed: Extensive experience in the Mechanical Engineering building services for construction Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent Good knowledge of CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS &EN Irish, UK standards or ASHRAE. Working knowledge of design software such as Hevacomp, Carrier HAP, CyMap, IES/TAS required Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
