They're expanding and looking for Junior and Intermediate Mechanical & Electrical Design Engineers who want to work on prestigious projects while enjoying flexibility and work-life balance. Your new role Assist in designing mechanical and electrical building services systems for hospitality, commercial, and industrial projects. Produce detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications using AutoCAD/Revit. Carry out load calculations, energy assessments, and system sizing under guidance. What you'll need to succeed Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or relevant Building Services discipline. Strong understanding of building services principles. Responsibilities: This is a varied and exciting opportunity for an experienced Intermediate Electrical Engineer who has the drive and passion to make an immediate impact on a small, growing business. The core responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Design of low-voltage electrical installations, typically working from RIBA work-stage 0 to 5. Working with the team on the design of electrical infrastructures, to include cable sizing, load calculations, and marking up general arrangement/layout drawings. Work with the team to develop real building lifecycle and upgrade strategies contributing to improved energy performance. Delivery of sustainability accreditations and supporting documentation (such as BREEAM). Supporting the delivery of energy efficiency solutions to clients to reduce operational costs and improve building asset ratings. Supporting project teams by way of quality monitoring of contractor design/development, calculations, and their physical installations. Essential Skills: Minimum of three years industry experience working in building services electrical design. Formal qualifications in electrical design. A degree is not essential providing a track record of practical training and qualification has been completed. Strong analytical skills, ability to recognise and solve problems. Ability to coordinate electrical requirements with associated MEP skillsets/requirements. Highly articulate and numerate. Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage and drive within complex and agile team structures. Ability to prepare technical specification documents, such as scoping of works. Ability to contribute to written reports and presentations for a diverse range of audiences. An autonomous approach, with the capability of planning one’s own workload (recognising deadlines) and communicating effectively. Good IT skills (Word/Excel/Microsoft Office). Full UK driving licence. Desired Skills: Membership of a professional engineering body (such as MCIBSE or MIET). Experience in the design of fire safety systems. Experience in the design of low-voltage switch panel systems. Experience in the design of building energy management systems (BEMS) and control panels/control strategies. Intermediate Electrical Engineer
The Company: The Company was founded in 1983 in South Africa. The company is very strong in leisure, education, commercial, retail and residential sectors of the market. The Company employs circa 20 employees, and although a relatively small Company punches well above its weight in terms of projects undertaken. Project values have varied from £4million to £200million in terms of construction value. They have won national and international awards for some of its projects and has established itself as a leader in low carbon and renewable technologies and low energy buildings. The type of work is varied; for instance they have written the technical guidance for Sport England wet and dry sports centres and partnered with a number of local authorities and main contractors. The design work varies from developing concept designs to Stage 3 for planning purposes to fully detailed design, contract and construction drawings. The candidate will report directly to the Director. The candidate joins the company in the midst of exciting times, with a strong order book and growth opportunities. The candidate will be given the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills and ultimately manage their own projects, which will include managing a team of engineers, building physicist and technicians. Qualifications and experience: British citizen or in possession of the right to work in the UK Degree qualified in electrical engineering From 2 years’ experience to senior engineer working as electrical (building services) design engineer (preferably in in the UK) Good design skills Preferential but not essential experience: Working knowledge of wiring regulations BS 7671 Working knowledge of relevant British Standards Experience in Education, leisure, residential, and mixed use sectors Familiarity with BREEAM, and implications for M&E design Revit MEP Job Description: The engineer will be required to deal with projects predominantly in the South-East from concept/feasibility stage, through design and construction to commissioning and handover under the guidance of a director.
