Your new role Design and specification of sustainable and cost-effective mechanical systems Site visits for appraisals, surveys, and condition reports Ensuring mechanical systems meet performance, efficiency, and regulatory standards Preparation of technical documentation including schedules, drawings, and reports HVAC system design, domestic water services, and drainage layouts Delivery of high-quality work with strong attention to detail What you'll need to succeed Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical building services design, either with a consultancy or contractor. They cover everything from Passivhaus studies, Dynamic Thermal Modelling, BREEAM and LEED, HVAC Design, Thermal Bridging studies, Airtight testing, Energy statements to Project Management and can even specify and supply a range of renewable energy technologies to use on projects. Rather than just designing a project, they plan, manage and oversee the construction or refurbishment process and also provide POE's and measurement and verification of energy savings. This is a hybird role; with a suggestion that you attend the office twice a week. You'll be responsible for helping their clients achieve low energy and low-cost buildings while improving occupant comfort and overall health and well-being. Key tasks Building Physics modelling (Daylight, overheating studies, dynamic thermal modelling etc) of new build and complex refurbishment projects. Partnering with architects and helping bring their ideas and visions to life. Undertaking R&D inro new or emerging technologies. Using IES, PHPP, SAP, Excel or Grasshopper to model and predict a buildings energy use. Championing low energy building design. Assisting with whole life costing analysis or whole life carbon analysis. Implementing Passivhaus standards for all new projects. This company specialises in delivering small-value mechanical projects, ranging from £5k to £250k, including planned refurbishments, maintenance upgrades, reactive works, and minor installations. Your new role As the Mechanical Small Works Manager, you will be responsible for: Managing and delivering multiple mechanical projects from inception to completion. Coordinating with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers. Preparing scopes, quotations, schedules, and method statements. Monitoring project progress, budgets, and resource allocation. Ensuring all works comply with health & safety and regulatory standards. Providing technical support and resolving site issues. Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
