Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with calculation experience Based on the outskirts of Glasgow, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join this market-leading precision materials technology company. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this position will be responsible for: * Devising and developing new complex designs for industrial machinery and modifying existing designs in partnership with their electrical and electronic engineers * Producing accurate detailed design documentation using 3D CAD to allow for manufacturing and assembly, so the product becomes legally compliant. * Building and testing of prototypes * Identifying and evaluating new materials, methods and suppliers * Improving product quality * Calculation experience, so assessments of design are carried out to ensure the product is safe prior to assembly. * Providing cross-functional technical support KEY REQUIREMENT - This is not simply a design role for creating visual designs and how they are put together - but experience in evaluating designs through calculations to ensure the designs are safe, able to handle the loads they are being subjected to and fit for purpose is essential.
