Your new role Working as part of a design team delivering detailed design Liaising closely with other professionals, including structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors of in-house and external project teams Attending a range of project group and technical meetings Ensuring that the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements Designing site-specific equipment as required Overseeing and supervising the installation of building systems and specifying maintenance and operating procedures. Using (CAD) and BIM (Revit) software and other resources to design the systems required for the project Carrying out condition surveys and providing recommendation reports to clients What you'll need to succeed Building Services degree or higher educational qualification and significant experience in a similar role. Ideally, working towards chartered engineer status with a suitable institution. Excellent communicator who can articulate complicated issues between our clients and our highly skilled project teams. Be ambitious! Demonstrate a high level of diligence and organisational skills. Experience within industry standard software such as IES, Hevacomp, AutoCAD, REVIT would be beneficial. I am looking for a Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join a leading consultancy team delivering innovative, sustainable design solutions across sectors such as commercial, healthcare, education, and residential. You will play a key role in designing and coordinating mechanical systems for high-profile projects, including data centres and complex building environments. Key Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical building services systems (HVAC, chilled water, heating, ventilation) from concept to completion. Your new role This role supports the Directors in project delivery. The successful candidate will oversee design activities aligned with project milestones and contribute to staff development and interoffice collaboration. Lead and manage multiple technical design packages, ensuring high performance and appropriate technical responses. Take full technical responsibility for mechanical building services outputs. Maintain strong client relationships and manage key accounts. Provide leadership, motivation, and guidance to the Building Services team. Drive effective project implementation and lead technical planning processes. What you'll need to succeed The ideal candidate should be currently operating at a senior level with proven ability to manage resources and maintain technical excellence. Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services discipline. Practical experience in a similar role, with working knowledge of UK Building Regulations. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, including Part L and CIBSE comfort criteria across various building types. Capable of producing detailed design packages for: HVAC systems Public health installations Fire engineering systems Building management systems Chartered status or working towards it is preferred.
