Role Overview: We are seeking an Associate Lead Manager with a strong M&E background in team management and survey work, ideally with design experience. The successful candidate will lead our Manchester office, currently supported by two Principal Engineers. Key Responsibilities: Establish and manage a new team. Appoint and oversee an Electrical & Mechanical design team. Drive business growth by winning new work, particularly in Manchester. Maintain and expand client relationships across Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, and beyond. Utilise a list of 85 contacts provided by the employer to initiate client engagement. Requirements: Strong local knowledge. Proven ability to build and lead a team. Self-starter with business acumen. Contacts within the industry. Driven to grow and progress within the company. What you’ll be doing As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be involved in a wide variety of projects from concept through to completion. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver low-energy, future-ready buildings. Key responsibilities include: Developing mechanical design solutions across multiple sectors Producing technical calculations, drawings and specifications Applying sustainable and low-carbon design principles Coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders Selecting systems, equipment and plant appropriate to each project Ensuring work is delivered on time, to budget and to the required quality Supporting on-site installations to ensure compliance with design intent Participating in client meetings and design workshops Keeping up to date with emerging technologies and industry developments Contributing to a collaborative, knowledge-sharing culture What you’ll bring A degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering Minimum of one year’s experience in mechanical Building Services design Experience with relevant software such as Revit, IES, Hevacomp, etc Solid understanding of British and European Standards and UK Building Regulations Awareness of BREEAM and experience with low and zero carbon technologies Membership or working towards membership of a professional body such as CIBSE or IET Clear communication skills and a collaborative working style Basic understanding of electrical engineering would be an advantage Why apply This company offers a rewarding and balanced working environment where you will be supported to grow, develop and make a meaningful impact.
