(PTM) is a long-established independent building services consulting engineers based in Tokyo Japan, with a history going back over 60 years. In that time we have collaborated on projects in some of the most famous landmark buildings of Tokyo and across Japan. Our International Group delivers best-practice mission critical designs for international clients who have facilities throughout Japan. We are currently looking for a Mechanical engineer to participate in major projects like relocating headquarters of major international banks, security firms or financial firms and building Data centers in Japan for international companies. This role requires an intermediate Mechanical Engineering Consultant with solid mechanical (HVAC and Plumbing) engineering capabilities and excellent customer presentation skills. We would like someone with experience in data centers and data center design. Your primary role would be to design and supervise mechanical services along with meeting with clients and helping to coordinate between our engineers and overseas companies on highly technical design work. Candidates must have: A degree (or equivalent) in the Mechanical Engineering. At least 5 years’ work experience post degree. Some experience with mission critical systems. Some experience working with Data centers. Flexibility in relocating to Japan. It is preferable for Candidates to have: A “quality plan” approach to projects, from concept plan to commissioning. A qualitative appreciation of other areas of design (i.e. electrical services). A natural interest in and familiarity with all aspects of a project (interior design, space planning, architecture, structure). Succession planning – shape and grow this role with your own development needs, and then actively train others in that role. Chartered engineer (CEng) or professional engineer (PE) status. Proficient (native or near native) level of spoken and written English. Financial package will be a competitive salary with added benefits, depending on experience with special attention given to: Experience of the latest mission critical facilities. Experience of data centre and trading floor design including cooling system and CRAC selections. Experience in preparation of fee proposals, giving presentations and other marketing activities. Experience of testing and commissioning work. Experience of fire suppression system including sprinkler and gas fire suppression system design. Experience of BMS system design. Familiarity with LEED and/or WELL certification or having LEED and/or WELL qualification. The successful candidate should be available to start by August – September 2025.
