Associate Director Mechanical
Associate Director Mechanical (Design & Projects) - London - to £85,000 + Package (Bonus c.10% of salary, Medical & Pension 12%) Leadership Position* Client-Side Market Leading Package (Salary, Car Allowance, c.10% Bonus, Bupa, Pension 12%) Flexibility to work from home Recession Proof In life there is generally an easier way and a harder way in most things... Had enough of battling with contractors, working to unachievable deadlines, working on projects that have been costed so tightly that there is no time for unforeseen changes and generally fed up with the pressure and workload within traditional building services design consultancy? Rather than dealing with these daily challenges, maybe you should consider working within a Commercial Property Consultancy who manage large estates and portfolios of buildings on behalf of some of the world’s leading businesses. Managing these buildings offers the opportunity to engage and work on all of the M&E Design projects that occurs during the building’s lifetime. Essentially Commercial Property Consultancies have their own in-house client base and have subsequently developed fully functioning, in-house M&E Consultancies which feed off of the M&E projects across all of their client’s buildings and portfolio’s. As they manage all aspects of a client’s property portfolio from buying, selling, leasing etc along with anything technical, including building surveying, PM, sustainability/NZC and M&E - including full detailed design (stages 0-4). This means that Commercial Property Consultancies do not have to competitively tender for projects resulting in projects being costed correctly, creating profit and not loss, creating a less pressurised environment, with acceptable working hours and providing the luxury of being able to recruit more engineers when required, pay well and reward well with significant annual bonuses. Meaning that there is, indeed, an easier way... The Opportunity: This role sits with one of the world’s largest Commercial Property Consultancies, number 1 in the global market in leasing, property sales, property management, occupier outsourcing and valuations, with revenues in excess of £20bn and 500 offices globally. A move into their M&E Design & Projects team would represent absolute career progression. Due to growth, they are now looking for an Associate Director – Mechanical Building Services Engineering to join their London office. They currently have circa £15m worth of MEP works on site, with circa £1m worth of design work already in the pipeline, so a really strong order book, and exciting pipeline. *The role will involve working with an existing client base to lead and develop the Design & Projects service offering to internal clients. It is a great time to join the business as due to growth they are expecting the London team to double in size within the next 1-2 years, and therefore there are great opportunities for growth and progression within the team. Based in either a central London office or working from home, you’ll be part of a team working on projects from concept design through to stage 4 detailed design. When in the office, you will work from state-of-the-art facility which is a showcase for current thinking in contemporary office design and technology. However, all employees will be expected to work flexibly with part of their week working at home. Essentially, a completely unique career opportunity, a client-side role that will give you direct access to clients, working on the client’s behalf as part of the client team, acting as the client’s representative on projects. You’ll be offered responsibility for managing projects with support from the wider M&E team and be given the opportunity to develop both your design skills and your commercial client facing and project management skills - not something that is available within traditional design consultancy, which will accelerate your carer past your peer group. There is structured training and a clear route for progression, with excellent CPD opportunities within the team. Although this Commercial Property Consultancy employs over 50,000 staff, they still put people before profit. Benefits – what’s in it for you? In addition to a salary up to £85,000 they also offer one of the best employee benefits packages in the industry consisting of: Flexible working hours and a 35 week as standard Car Allowance £6K Annual bonus, up to 10% of your basic salary 12.5% Pension 27 days leave (plus Bank Holidays) Life assurance Private medical Option of buying or selling 5 days leave Interest free season ticket loan or cycle to work scheme Board Representative - get to speak to the Executive board where your voice can be heard. They passionately believe people are the foundation upon which their success is built. They understand that a career is about more than just hard work. It’s about achievement, rewards, job satisfaction and work/life balance If you are serious about your career and would like to know more about how a move into Building Services Design within the Commercial Property sector would benefit your career, or you would just like to find out more about the financial and professional benefits then please get in touch for an initial, informal chat.
