Intermediate to Senior Electrical Design Engineer
I'm working with a forward-thinking and well-established M&E consultancy who are looking for an Intermediate to Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer to contribute to a diverse range of projects across residential, commercial, and education sectors. About the RoleThis position offers the chance to work on high-profile developments, delivering innovative and sustainable electrical design solutions. You'll be part of a collaborative team, producing coordinated designs and specifications that meet client briefs and industry standards. Key Responsibilities Independently produce high-quality electrical designs across various building types. Attend design team meetings and site visits as required. Develop MEP spatial requirements in line with client briefs. Prepare calculations, schematics, schedules, layout drawings, and specifications. Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions. Core Technical Experience Low Voltage Design using Amtech. Lighting Design (internal and external) using Dialux or Relux. Cable Containment Design and layout planning. Fire Alarm, Security & Specialist Systems performance design. Incoming Services & Infrastructure Design. What We're Looking For Minimum HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering. Notable experience in electrical design and project delivery. Strong working knowledge of relevant software tools and design standards. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication and coordination skills. Location & Flexibility Office based in Fareham, with travel to sites and meetings as required. Flexible / hybrid working hours available. Your new company Working in partnership with the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), this role is part of a major fire safety improvement programme across 26 UK prison establishments. The MOJ owns 75 sites nationwide and works closely with our client for day-to-day maintenance. Our client, who typically focused on northern sites, has secured the contract for this southern-based project-an advantage given our strong working relationship with them. Your new role You'll be based at HMP Erlestoke, overseeing fire safety improvement works for a duration of 40-52 weeks, starting in November. Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, you'll be responsible for managing site activity, ensuring compliance, and maintaining high standards of safety and delivery. This is a high-profile role requiring credibility, reliability, and deep construction knowledge. What you'll need to succeed You must be construction qualified, with proven experience of managing work on live sites. Fire safety experience is highly desirable, and prior prison clearance is a distinct advantage. You'll need to obtain Prison DBS clearance, which can take 8+ weeks, so early engagement is key.
