Mechanical Associate Director

Your new company This brilliant Building Services Consultancy based in Farringdon are keen to recruit a new Associate / Associate Director to lead the Mechanical team. Having just moved into new premises, they are positioned to grow over the next few years, offering good development. They work across sectors although mostly known for architecturally lead high-end residential projects. These RIBA Award-winning projects are challenging yet hugely rewarding to be involved with. For a bit of diversity, they also work across other sectors, including Education, Commercial, Care Homes and Co-Living spaces. Your new role You will lead the mechanical team working alongside one of the founding Directors and you will be charged with managing technical aspects of the jobs. The Mechanical team is well-placed with Engineers from graduate to principal already delivering projects. Ideally, you will have some high-end residential experience, although not essential. They work on cutting-edge sustainable work, so an interest in environmental design with technological influences is essential. What you'll need to succeed A background: managing a small team of Engineers within the UK Building Services Consultancy sector. Ideally on London-based projects. A background in technology and an interest in BIM and how that can speed up the design process. What you'll get in return A really competitive salary of £75k to £90k with package and benefits. A flexible approach to working with a formal hybrid arrangement of 60% in office. As long as the work is completed, hours are fairly flexible to work around other commitments, and you can be in the office to collaborate with the team around core hours. Key Responsibilities Develop and deliver electrical engineering designs from concept through to detailed stages in line with RIBA work stages. Prepare specifications, technical reports, layout drawings and contract documents. Lead electrical design strategy discussions with clients and stakeholders. Support tender processes, including contractor selection and evaluation. Attend site  meetings and Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a positive team environment. You will have: Either demonstrable experience in a consulting engineering environment or relevant transferrable skills. Solid experience in electrical design (power, lighting, alarms, PV, EVC, etc.). Strong understanding of IET Wiring Regulations, Building Regulations, BREEAM and sustainable design principles. Proficiency in relevant software such as Amtech/Trimble, Relux/Dialux. Experience with Revit (desirable). Excellent communication and client-facing skills. The ability to work independently, make decisions and lead by example.
