  • Judges' Comments: Judges were particularly impressed with the unique combination of sustainability, biodiversity, and consideration of occupant well-being.
  • Highly Commended: WSP for 3 Sheldon Square

Project of the Year - Sustainability (International)

  • Winner: Lüchinger Meyer Partner for Façade Restoration
  • Judges' Comments: The judges thought this was an interesting project that put the focus on material reuse and the reduction of embodied carbon.

Project of the Year - Refurbishment (UK)

  • Winner: Buro Happold for The Whiteley
  • Judges' Comments: The judges were impressed with the care taken in this restoration, along with the coordination of multiple stakeholders to achieve a truly impressive result.

Project of the Year - Refurbishment (International)

  • Winner: Arup for the Museum of Anthropology
  • Judges' Comments: The comments from the judges were that the building was re-engineered to upgrade its seismic performance to resist severe earthquakes, whilst preserving the original architecture. The technically challenging and innovative refurbishment has given the museum a full life extension.

Project of the Year - New Build (UK)

  • Winner: FMDC Ltd for Cadence, Kings Cross
  • Judges' Comments: The judges thought that this was a very well executed project and were impressed by the bent aluminium window profiles in precast arches.

Project of the Year - New Build (International)

  • Winner: Maffeis Engineering SpA for Zardini
  • Judges' Comments: The judges found this entry to be a refined and technically rigorous project that balances expressive architectural form with engineering precision. A thoughtful and well-executed façade that elevates its context.

Project of the Year - Special Structures

  • Winner: seele (S) PTE
  • Judges' Comments: The judges thought this project was an architecturally impressive and complex triangulated shell structure with curved and kinked units hung from the columns. The solution was engineered and refined post-tender in an astonishingly short period of time.

Project of the Year - Innovation (UK): 

  • Winner: Buro Happold for Salder's Wells East
  • Judges' Comments: The judges thought this entry was a technically ambitious façade seamlessly integrating acoustic control, structural ingenuity and environmental performance, exemplifying innovation through collaborative engineering within the demanding context of a contemporary theatre.

Project of the Year - Innovation (International)

  • Winner: Eckersley O'Callaghan for Banquet Hall, The Henderson
  • Judges' Comments: The judges commented that this entry was a technically ambitious project, which delivers a bold architectural statement, especially given the challenges of height and wind loads in Hong Kong. The team’s integrated approach and innovative detailing stand out. A landmark that blends engineering excellence with architectural elegance.
  • Highly Commended: Buro Happold for Heke Rua National Archives

Best Digital Innovation of the Year

  • Winner: Ramboll UK Limited for FAME (Façade Access & Maintenance Engine)
  • Judges' Comments: The judges described this entry as an innovative offering that has the potential to drive great improvements in the considered maintenance of facade systems to improve efficiency and system, product, component and material stewardship.

Product of the Year

  • Winner: Zurich Soft Robotics for Solskin
  • Judges' Comments: The judges described this product as a groundbreaking innovation, with its AI-driven adaptability, elegant design, and climate resilience, it sets a new benchmark for sustainable architecture. A compelling fusion of research, technology, and design excellence.

Dissertation of the Year

  • Winner: Jacob Wotton
  • Title: The Impact of the Building Safety Act on Suppliers and Manufacturers in the UK.  

Young Façade Engineer of the Year

  • Winner: Mitch Albarran from Arup
  • Judges' Comments: The judges thought Mitch’s entry provides great reference to actual examples rather than general descriptions providing great substance to his application and demonstrates evidence of his abilities.

Lifetime Achievement Award

  • Winner: Simon Webster of the SFE
  • About: This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award is presented posthumously to Simon Webster, a founding member of FMDC and a visionary whose contributions to façade design and engineering continue to resonate across our industry. Simon’s work exemplified technical excellence, creative integrity, and a deep commitment to collaboration. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in the projects he shaped, the people he mentored, and the standards he helped define. We honour Simon’s enduring impact and celebrate his life’s work with profound gratitude.
